For example, human rights activists choose to focus their efforts on protecting the rights of people within certain countries, while other human rights activists choose to focus on the problems that face people of color, especially in the United States.

Other types of social activism include political action and social protest movements. These types of movements may focus on particular issues such as immigration, gay rights, poverty or environmental issues. Activist groups who focus on social action campaigns have much less influence than those who focus on political issues. But whatever the specific type of action, all types of social activism have the same end goal: social change through peaceful political action.
